Blooming into the Sunshine of the World, by Owen, Grade 5

Blooming into the Sunshine of the World
Oh, little bud,
plump, standing stem-straight,
with your little red dot
at your top.
Like a spear head,
an arrow,
a little jester bud
with your little violet crown.
Waiting to bloom, blossom,
your time.
Blooming with talent
into the sunshine of the world
oh, how your fiery bright orange sunshine
lights up the world,
your message
spread by the wind,
the joy of sharing yourself,
your sunshine…
Unfold
with riffled edges
and thin cone petal
your evening horizon of dawn,
We ask you,
Why?
Why your little scarf, crown,
ring of violet?
Why?
