Sea of Night

Starfish

are the stars of the sea

as they twinkle

in the dark water

of the night

a sand dollar

glints in the boundless

sea of black

a hermit crab

scuttles across

the light of dawn

humming

hovering

on invisible wings

his tail a pencil tip

writing on the sky.

where do you come from

where will you fly,

a look-out gleam

in your shy black eye?

for a puffering treat.

carved into a staircase

for little sea creatures

smoothed by the currents

riding the tide

crossing the sea so blue

how you came to the beach

where I find you.

Morning glory dozing dreaming of wishes

can you keep a secret, green soft sunshine?

Of memories, almost lost in the monster of time

Keep the morning, the love, the friendship, the fear,

sweet dew drops holding a tear

ballerina opening slowly to a sugary sun

smiling softly longing for fun

opening, petal by petal

for it takes some time for the sun to settle

be patient, little gift

ruffly dress silky swift

peachy fingers

gentle breeze lingers

emerald green gloves
